Xiaozhi Chen, a golden artist

Xiaozhi Chen, a resident of Asnières, has been a gilder for about ten years and has specialized in creating gilding under glass. On gold leaves, her favorite material, the artist draws by tracing, scraping, sanding, rubbing, and burnishing. "Gold, since the dawn of time, has been synonymous with the sacred but also with material wealth. It is a rare and precious material, both immutable and fragile, noble and despicable, real and illusory... it is this ambiguous character, like our world, that fascinated me and inspired me." Xiaozhi Chen will exhibit this year at the Place des Victoires in the marquetry and cabinetmaking workshop TSAR Collections.
